As a non-coder, it’s really hard to tell if the devs are actually putting out higher quality software, or if they’re spending extra time writing code that conforms to their preferences. Some people like to tinker, and will do so forever if allowed.
I lean more towards: Passes acceptance testing and conforms to design criteria? Ship it, and buy the senior some Parmesan to go with that spaghetti.
